Increasing Your Safety Standards
with Volvo Trucks

As one of the world’s leading vehicle manufacturers, Volvo has a responsibility to set an example about the positive change it can make for the world. Aside from making groundbreaking vehicles that are armed with innovative safety features, Volvo is also working with its partner communities to create a safer and better future.

The Volvo Group has been creating programs for its partner communities to educate, empower, and improve their way of life. Volvo has several initiatives that focus on education, skills development, and health and safety under their belt to accomplish this.

In this article, we’ll explore some of these initiatives and see how it has positively impacted Volvo Group’s partner communities.

Commitment to Health and Safety

For Volvo, nothing is more important than their employees’ safety and well-being. This is why the Volvo Group has formulated ironclad guidelines for health and safety.

The Volvo Group follows strict safety protocols to ensure that each member of their team is safe. The enactment of these strict health and safety protocols has significantly reduced the number of workplace accidents in Volvo facilities.

Volvo Group has also made sure that each of its facilities has the necessary personnel, equipment, and systems in place in case of emergencies. Via its risk, accident, and incident procedures, Volvo is ready for any emergency and to mitigate any risks.

Each employee and contractor are also required to go through the Volvo Group’s health and safety programs. This is to ensure that they’re equipped with the proper safety protocols that are essential to Volvo’s operations.

Road and Traffic Safety Initiatives

Aside from Volvo Group’s health and safety programs, they also have several road and traffic safety initiatives that are geared toward equipping partner communities with the skills and knowledge to have a better future.

Two of the most impactful projects that Volvo has done to date are the following:

Iron Women

Volvo Group has created a heavy-duty truck driving school built just for women. An initiative that aims to increase the number of women in the transport industry to boost women’s representation. Iron Women is meant to empower women and provide them with new working opportunities as heavy-duty commercial truck drivers.

This program focuses on equipping women with the technical and practical skills needed to become professional drivers while also stressing the importance of road safety. Through Iron Women, women will play a larger role in contributing to the transport industry by providing them with an avenue where they can voice out their opinions and ideas on the safety, efficiency, and productivity of truck operations.

Stop Look Wave

Volvo has noted that a significant portion of accidents on the road are due to human behavior. Even more alarming is that children are the most vulnerable on the road. To reduce this, the Volvo Group has made Stop Look Wave.

Stop Look Wave is an initiative that teaches children a fun way to stay safe on the roads. It’s a kid-friendly approach that’s memorable and that will help keep kids safe from the dangers of the road.

Since its inception, Stop Look Wave has helped keep children safe in over 30 countries around the world.
