Automating Your Work Process with the Volvo Wheel Loader’s On-Board Weighing
When it comes to transporting materials on your wheel loader for your operations, you’ll need to ensure that your operators load the right amount to reduce costs and improve productivity. The material loading process can take a while especially if your employees are loading large amounts onto your unit and need to constantly check its weight to prevent overloading, underloading, and reweighing.
To solve these problems, Volvo has innovated its wheel loaders to have an on-board weighing system to provide your operators with real-time information about the bucket’s load. This feature reduces the time spent measuring the weight of the materials and the disruption to your business’ workflow.
Benefits of On-Board Weighing
Simple Mode
When it comes to weighing materials for your wheel loader, the on-board weighing system allows you to do it effortlessly. The unit’s simple mode allows your operators to access a simplified version of the tool by entering a pin code. This mode will allow your workers to have access to three important functions:
- Viewing of the current load in trip mode
- Viewing the load weight
- Printing a load receipt
Low Load Mode
The low load mode is the function you’ll want your operators to use when loading lightweight materials. When your workers use this mode, they’ll have access to a lower limit of the system, which reduces the machine’s rated working load from five percent to one percent.
Precise Loading Measurements
The On-Board Weighing system of the Volvo Wheel Loader guarantees an accurate tonnage measurement with a discrepancy of +/- one percent for every load. However, should your work or client requirements make it difficult to have the load locked within this margin, your operators can switch to having an accuracy of +/- two percent to better fulfill the task.
Partial Unloading Function
Volvo’s On-Board Weighing System’s partial unloading or work order function allows your operators to choose a client’s name or a preprogrammed task. This function will enable them to select a required tonnage automatically.
Once you’ve selected the correct target tonnage, you’ll just need to manage the bucket’s offloading movement with the unit’s tip off capability.
Attachment Optimization
While Volvo’s On-Board Weighing System is optimized for your wheel loader’s standard bucket operations, it can be adapted for different Volvo accessories such as high tip buckets, side dump buckets, forks, and grapples. For forks and buckets, the accuracy is at +/- two percent.
Additionally, each Volvo Wheel Loader operator has access to a guided calibration process that will ensure that the on-board loading function is working accurately every time.
Data on Demand
Each Volvo Co-Pilot has your wheel loader’s operations data stored in its system. This information can easily be exported through the internet or a USB.
Through Volvo’s CareTrack system, you can have the production data, productivity data, and fuel data combined into a single report, giving your business the information it needs to improve its services further.
Work Modes
The Volvo Wheel Loader’s On-Board Weighing system has multiple modes that can display the information your operators need to effectively monitor the task at hand. These four modes are Trip Meter, Truck Loading, Stockpiling, and Process Loading.
